How then shall we live?

As a Christian, how should I be living my life? I have to ask myself this question sometimes. In the middle of this crazy, fast paced world that we are living in, I still want my answer to remain the same - my life should be lived for God and for others. This semester I will be studying in Rwanda and Uganda, and doing mission work with Food for the Hungry. These next few months I want to make a drastic change in my life by living not for myself, but for others. Through my studies and my interactions I hope to find a new and better understanding of what it means to be a child of God. I want to leave with no question in my mind that there is so much more to my life than my own happiness. I want to make my Creator proud, by loving his children.

25 days left!

Hey Everyone,
Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the blog, though honestly, there hasn't been much to write, or time to write it. I am now officially on Christmas break, so I can focus on my upcoming semester in Africa!!

25 days! In 25 days I will be in Phoenix, AZ going through a brief orientation before we leave. On Jan 15th we leave the states and fly to London, where we will have a substantial layover (and hopefully be allowed to explore the city a bit). The following day we will board our plane for Entebbe (the airport in Uganda). From the itinerary, it looks like it will be a total or about two days of traveling until we arrive in Uganda. I can't wait!

In preparation, I have received almost all of my immunizations (if you know me, you know this is a traumatic experience for me). I have sent in all the paperwork, received my International Students Insurance Card, and have my passport ready to go. All that is left to do is pack. I am not quite sure what to expect when it comes to clothes. We are going to be mostly in urban cities, where people dress fairly modern, but we still need dresses and skirts? I guess I will find out when I get there and hindsight is always 20/20..

I anticipate these next 25 days to fly by. Christmas is coming up fast. On Christmas Day, my family will be flying to Colorado to take care of my Opa (grandfather in German) for a week while my aunt and her family go on vacation. We come back on New Years Eve. My boyfriend Chris will come visit before he returns to school, and then I will have a few days before departure. I hope to work for my father whenever possible to make a little extra money for spending in Africa.

Stay tuned! I am sure that 2010 will bring many more posts with fewer days in between them.
Keep me in your prayers
And Remember: Jesus is the true meaning of the holidays
Merry Christmas!
